Old Farmstead site, Manor Farm Bredenbury.
Consists of a series of platforms on which would have been a dwelling and assorted farm buildings, at least until the 18th century.
First excavated in 2010, now being revisited to learn more.
In 2010 one trench exposed part of a post hole, possibly that of the structural outline of a building ( we are hoping its the dwelling).
A “T” shaped trench has been put in to refind the post hole and see if we have any more associated with it.
So far we have found 17th and 18th century pottery shards – one possibly a Medieval pot rim. A small piece of glass possibly off a vessel, one possible 16th century pot shard ( green glazed ) and part of a stone roof tile. A nail with attached label from the 2010 dig was found.
Everyone worked hard !!
