Description
A major new publication written by Jennifer Weale, a member of Bromyard & District Local History Society. Based on a diary from 1871 by the daughters of the Rector of Whitbourne, which describes their daily expeditions around the parish, usually of several miles, visiting the elderly, the poor and the sick. The diary is unusual in that it is illustrated with the ‘cartes de visites’ of many of the people they met, little playing-card sized photos that were all the rage in Victorian England. There are also some delicate watercolours by their cousin Letty, and a comprehensive introduction to the Bellett family and Whitbourne at the time.
